Aquanuity, Inc., the leader in strategy-led simulation-powered water infrastructure digital twin software, today announced the worldwide availability of AquaTwin Sewer 2D for ArcGIS Pro. The new product extends the powerful sewer network modeling capabilities of AquaTwin Sewer by giving users the ability to accurately model overland runoff. It further substantiates Aquanuity’s steadfast commitment to delivering value-driven geocentric innovation to its customers.

Pluvial flooding in urban areas is characterized by a gradually varying inundation process caused by surcharge of the sewer manholes. AquaTwin Sewer 2D efficiently simulates the dynamic interaction between the sewer network (sub-surface system) and the overland flow (surface system) in order to accurately predict the flood inundation extents. The hydrodynamic simulation of the sub-surface system is solved using the 1D Saint-Venant equations and the hydrodynamic simulation of the surface system inundation is solved using the 2D shallow water equations. The resulting fully integrated 1D-2D model is a very useful and powerful tool in simulating flood extent and flood inundation in urban areas.
