Aquanuity Pledges Multiyear Support to Vital National Academy of Engineering Programs

In a continued commitment to bring national attention to the exciting opportunities that engineering represents for girls and women and to address the ethical and social dimensions of engineering in education and practice, Aquanuity proudly announced multiyear financial support to two mission-critical National Academy of Engineering (NAE) programs. The two programs are EngineerGirl (EG) and the Cultural, Ethical, Social and Environmental Responsibility in Engineering (CESER).

EG is designed to bring national attention to the exciting opportunities that engineering represents for girls and women, and to inform, inspire, and support girls and to encourage them to consider the rewards of an engineering education and career. Why girls and women? Because despite an increase in female participation in many traditionally male-dominated professions such as medicine and law, women remain grossly under-represented in engineering. Diversity of thought is crucial to creativity, and by leaving women out of the process of innovation, we lose a key component of diversity and stifle innovation and progress.

CESER is animated by two goals: to seamlessly integrate cultural, ethical, social, and environmental responsibility considerations into the practice of engineering, and to raise awareness of how engineering design and the engineering mindset can responsibly contribute to addressing society’s greatest challenges. It aims to expand the understanding of how cultural, ethical, and social circumstances, and the environment affect and are affected by the practice of engineering and promote consideration of these issues through engagement with engineers, educators, industry leaders, professional societies, governmental entities, and the general public.

Said Paul F. Boulos, Chairman and CEO of Aquanuity. “We are extremely proud and excited to team with the prestigious National Academy of Engineering to invest in the education and grow the bench strength of future women engineering leaders and to champion a culture of ethical and environmental responsibility in engineering.”
