Aquanuity, Inc., the leader in strategy-led simulation-powered water infrastructure digital twin software, is pleased to announce the rebranding of AquaTwin DDM (Digital Defect Modeling) to AquaTwin DCI (Digital Condition Inspection). The rebrand best reflects the evolution of the geocentric product to a more comprehensive, fully automated inspection and condition assessment solution for sewer collection systems. Supercharged with intelligent and automatic features, AquaTwin DCI significantly accelerates sewer infrastructure inspection and condition assessment projects with fully automated defect coding, grading and scoring based on NASSCO standards or user-defined protocols. The new software further substantiates the company’s strategic commitment to value-driven innovation for its customers.
A turn-key product for ArcGIS Pro users and powered by cutting-edge automata theory, AquaTwin DCI lets utilities, contractors and engineering firms leverage existing CCTV videos to automatically create detailed 3D models of sewer pipes showing the location and severity of all defects along with critical information such as defect type, length, area and depth so they can proactively plan repair. Users can now for the first time automatically find, quantify and prioritize faults including deformation, infiltration, roots and surface damage sewer defects and monitor deterioration over time to determine where intervention is needed the most and to optimize and prioritize rehabilitation and replacement decisions. The software lets them validate coding, pinpoint potential coding errors, find red flags or missed codes, recognize problems sooner and evaluate inspection data faster, more accurately and prevent sewer main breaks, overflows, sinkholes, property damages and other emergencies and keep their sewer infrastructure operating efficiently well into the future. No training data or past images needed. No manual review. Applicable to any pipe material. What’s more? Extremely easy to use self-service tool, users can get up and running in minutes and start making better, more informed and timely decisions that will lead to financial, operational and business success and more reliable performance at maximum cost savings.
Unlike Artificial Intelligence (AI) based software that employ tools such as machine learning algorithms requiring thousands of forensic image training data sets to recognize instances of defects, AquaTwin DCI uses mathematical systems theory to automatically locate and quantify defects (length, area and depth) faster, more accurately and with deeper levels of insight. AI-based inspections are not able to determine if cracks go through the pipe wall resulting in true leak locations and are also prone to hidden biases derived from the data provided to train the system. Similarly, it is undefined how much training is good enough as more training images may lead to more false positives and worse results. In addition, AI-based tools are unable to compute the outlines of structural defects such as crack areas, lengths and depths – information essential to evaluate and monitor defect severity and deterioration over time.
AquaTwin DCI is supercharged with smart and automatic features to quickly and accurately identify the types and sizes of defects as well as automatically code, grade and score defects. The results can be directly used in failure modeling, determining likelihood of failure as well as in renewal and replacement (R&R) diagrams to optimize CIP and O&M planning. They can also be compared with past inspections for improved decision making. Other enhancements include faster CCTV scanning times and geospatial visualization and processing.
Key benefits of AquaTwin DCI:
“AquaTwin DCI raises the bar and sets new standards for wastewater and stormwater sewer inspection and condition assessment,” said Paul Boulos, Chairman and CEO of Aquanuity. “This revolutionary software has unique, fully automated functionality to better enable utilities, engineers and contractors to speed up inspection and assessment work with greater ease and accuracy, and help them develop a comprehensive roadmap for sewer rehabilitation. At Aquanuity, we continue to push the technology curve to make it better, faster, easier for utilities to operate, manage and sustain high-performing, highly efficient sewer infrastructure and better their communities.”
